Updating/Changing DNS IPs in VMware vCenter Appliance and ESXi hosts

If you try to change / update DNS IPs on the ESXi host from within the vCenter , it will give an error “ This operation cannot be performed while the host is part of a windows domain”.

Changing DNS IPs from VMware Appliance Management GUI will caution with this message “Reconfiguring the NIC 0 management network adapter will result in downtime of your vCenter Server and can take some time before it is up and running again.

Who can afford downtime just to update the DNS?

Resolution: For me ESXi hosts are HPE DL380 Gen10 machines. Access the DCUI console by connecting to ESXi hosts using ILO. Make the changes and you are good to go. NO outage.
For vCenter Appliance, update the DNS ips by accessing the VCSA VM console from the vCenter.
